According to Tax Payers Alliance data: Bolsover Council councillors are the highest paid councillors in non-metropolitan council in the UK. Let that sink in.

Even most hardcore Labour Party fanatics know that the Labour Party does not care about fiscal responsibility, government spending and budget balance. Wherever they rule – debt is rising, taxes are rising and efficiency fall of the cliff. Shirebrook is no different. Since I moved here, I watched closely the local council and councillors. Shirebrook is “traditionally” Labour area so I was not surprised when year after year I saw my tax bill going up, and up, and up…
Usually- councillors remember about me (voter) just before election day. Only once did the city council meet with the residents- after stabbing on Market Place. They promised changes, they promised CCTV- today we know: nothing happened. They lied just to calm the people down before the election.
Between elections- not a peek. No leaflet, no door knocks, no information about what is going on. I have no idea who is my County Councillor- but I know for sure that he (or she) will drop leaflets on my doorstep soon enough- election to county Council coming fast (they should be held in May 2021 I think…).
Bolsover Council makes the same impression. The tax rise every year, no change in the quality of services (if so- for worst) and overpaid councillors who do next to nothing from my point of view. Oh, wait! They took all money earned after the land sale to Tesco. Then- they use this money to borrow Shirebrook 450 000 on interest! So smart! Right? I will not mention that Tesco holds land for some time just to sell it… probably earning something extra at our cost. Labour style of economics!
Joint Chief Executive of Bolsover Council found himself on “Top paid council workers in UK list 2017-2018” of Taxpayers Alliance. His wage with pension contributions from the taxpayer? Just shy above 130 000. How much you earned last year?
Rest of council? Would you be surprised if I tell you that Labour created a situation where Bolsover Councillors are highest paid non-metropolitan councillors in the UK??
On top of that, they receive extra money. For example, the diet of a leader is above 14 000 pa. Full list of extra money they receive is below, look for yourself how Labour care about those few which we elected to “take care” of our interests:

Councillors meet once, twice a month, maybe couple times a month. Most of them do nothing. Yet- thanks to Labour they earn thousands of pounds more then councillors in other parts of the UK. Did they forget to mention that in their election leaflets? Well… I’m not surprised. Would they mention next time that Conservative Councillor proposed to cut Councillor wages and Labour-led Council REJECT this idea? Read and weep:

Labour-led Bolsover Council pays double what neighbouring councils pay. DOUBLE!!! Do you remember how much Bolsover Council increased taxes this year? No? Look at your council tax bill now… or read this post from me (there is a picture):
Labour knows how to care for the few, not the many… Do you wonder why we have a tax rise every year? Someone has to pay those wages, right? Who cares that Bolsover is one of the poorest areas in the region. PAY and shut up! And yeah- don’t forget to vote Labour in next election or even better- stay home and don’t vote at all…
20% participation in the election is why Labour is winning in Shirebrook. Stay home Conservatives. Stay home Independents. Labour will take care for you… Oh, wait! I meant they will take care for few– not you.
