I picked a bag of trash and… I enjoyed it!

I am a volunteer for a local litter-picking group. Today I not only want to promote this group but I also have an additional goal – more about it at the end of the article. Let’s start with trash disposal!

EVIL THRASHERS, GOOD PICKERS
The group I mentioned is called ‘The Langwiths and Shirebrook Litter Heroes’.
All the group’s activities are organized on Facebook (link below). If you would like to join the next collection, I recommend joining the group now and familiarizing yourself with the rules, meeting place, other heros etc. It’s always better to announce your presence so that the leaders know how to prepare.

BAG OF TRASH
If, however, you are like me – too busy to participate in organized collections,
you can always do what I do – collect trash in your free time, and then show the results of your work in the group so that other “hero pickers” avoid the already cleaned area.

My calendar is now chaotic and it’s difficult for me to predict what I’ll be doing tomorrow/the day after. Like everything – it has its pros and cons. That’s why I go out ‘litter picking’ when the weather is good and I know I have a moment of time. I usually circle around Bracken Road, Meadow Lane, Main Street and typically collect one bag of trash and return home. Today I decided to double the norm.

TWO BAGS OF TRASH BETTER THAN ONE BAG OF TRASH
Today I decided to exceed the norm
– I took two empty bags with me intending to fill them to the brim. Trash has this habit that if you let it accumulate, there will be more and more of it. Dirt encourages slobs to make more mess. Cleanliness deters them, although slobs often don’t pay attention to anything besides themselves. Slobs are bad people – and they tend to think of themselves as better than anyone else, which is often their biggest weakness. Hence – we need to make sure trash is removed regularly.

BAG SO SMALL IT FIT IN PALM OF MY HAND
I’ve been a member of this group for so long that I’ve started to notice certain “trends”.
For example – when it gets warmer, the number of empty beer cans increases. In winter, there are fewer of them, but I collect many more small bottles of stronger drinks like vodka or whiskey. For many months, I also collected a huge number of used “vapes”, but it seems that in recent months, the popularity of this stimulant has been declining, as I see them less often.

Today I noticed something that might be the beginning of a new trend. Small bags that fit in your palm. I had never seen them before, but just like with any other trash – collecting them gave me an enormous sense of pleasure.

HOPE YOU ENJOY!!!
Yes – collecting and disposing of trash is not only a useful activity that makes your home’s surroundings look better.
I like doing it, and I will continue to do it. Litter picking also has a positive impact on health – a walk in the fresh air has never hurt anyone. Collecting and disposing of trash also gives a huge sense of pleasure. I DID ENJOY THAT! And I bet you would, too, if you tried.

ENOUGH ABOUT LITTER, LET’S TALK ABOUT REAL TRASH!
Going back to the first sentence of the article: the day before yesterday
, I published an article in which I informed readers about BDC’s involvement in the “STC Leisure Centre Pellet Scandal”. Today I received the first response and I am veeeery pleased with it. It’s too early to write about it publicly, but I have a clear and distinct signal that I’ve taken a step in the right direction and someone has crapped their pants.

Additionally – I filed a complaint against the Town Clerk regarding the non-fulfillment of an FOI request and surprise – I also received a response. I will present the analysis of the received documents in the next article.

MP? MIA!
I’m waiting for a response from the MP regarding this pellet scandal at the STC.
I’m still waiting for a meeting date to be set. It’s already the 3rd month after initial contact and agreement. The 4th will begin soon. I don’t know what our MP is doing, because all I see are her photos on Facebook with Labour Party politicians or information that she voted “along party lines” again.

Will our MP descend from her Ivory Tower in Westminster to meet with a representative of the working class who has stumbled upon a corruption scandal? Will the MP be interested in corruption that bears the hallmarks of organized crime? Will she gaze upon documents I want to show her? Or will we have another Rotherham where the Labour Party pretended for a decade that nothing bad was happening and then it will blow into their faces?

Time will tell.
