COMPLAINT ABOUT A COMPLAINT
On 12 October 2022, one of the Labour Party councillors punched my laptop and threw a mouse from my computer. If you are a reader of S247, you will know that I have complained to the BDC Monitoring Officer about this. It is time to mention it again, to remind voters who they voted for.
In my view, Cllr Chris Kane has breached the Code of Conduct. I made this complaint on 13 October 2022. To date, there are no results of the investigation into this matter. 8 months on, and Civil Servants from BDC still cannot decide whether physical aggression in Chambers is a breach of the law governing the conduct of councillors.
Eight months! That is ridiculous! It’s even more baffling if you know that I enquired about the progress of this investigation SEVERAL TIMES, and I always got more or less the same answer:
I’ve had enough of waiting. So I have decided to file… a complaint about a complaint. Specifically: on 1 June 2023, I sent in a complaint about the tardiness of the actions of Jim Fieldsend (Monitoring Officer of BDC, who is “investigating” the matter). You can read the text of that complaint below, but I have decided to include some additional facts in this article. Let’s start with the “complaint about the complaint”:

I would like to make a formal complaint about the behaviour of a BDC employee, but I don’t know what the procedure is for this type of case, so I would ask you to redirect this email to the relevant department or reply with guidance on how I should do this.
My name is Sylwester Zwierzynski, and I would like to lodge a complaint against BDC employee Jim Fieldsend who acts as Monitoring Officer.
On 12 October 2022, I was attacked by Councillor Chris Kane during a Shirebrook Town Council meeting. This councillor punched my laptop and threw a mouse from my computer over the table. In my opinion, the attack was an attempt to divert attention from a question I had asked during the proceedings. I believe Cllr Chris Kane broke the Code of Conduct, so after the meeting, I made a complaint about his behaviour. In response, the Monitoring Officer accepted the complaint and said he would investigate the matter. Despite numerous phone calls and countless emails, I have sent after over eight months, the situation has still not been resolved.
Today is 1 June, and I am still waiting for the case to be resolved.
In my view, Jim Fieldsend deliberately delayed the enquiry so that the results could not be announced before the election, which worked to the political advantage of Cllr Chris Kane. In my view, the matter is straightforward and, in the private sector, would have been dealt with within two/three weeks. The Monitoring Officer allowed a situation where voters went to the polls without knowledge of the aggression displayed by Chris Kane in the STC Chamber. From my point of view, the Monitoring Officer thus violated the principle of impartiality that civil servants should display. I am lodging a formal complaint about the Monitoring Officer’s tardiness in investigating the aggressive behaviour of Cllr Chris Kane. I would like to be informed what will be done about it.
I would also ask that you notify Mr Fieldsend’s immediate supervisor of the matter and ask that person to influence the Monitoring Officer to bring this matter to an end finally.

CLLR CHRIS KANE INVESTIGATED
On several occasions, I have witnessed Cllr Chris Kane displaying aggressive behaviour towards councillors – even towards councillors of his party. I have also met two people who claim to have seen situations in the past where Chris Kane has committed much more aggressive acts.
I will enquire about this to clear up any doubts on the subject. I would happily ask Cllr Chris Kane directly, but he avoids contact with me. Is he afraid? Is he hiding something? Anyway- Chris Kane is not only avoiding contact with me but the evidence I have on this subject is currently classified. I will disclose it when the “gag order” is lifted.
THE PLOT THICKENS
There are as many as four CCTV cameras in the STC Chamber. The CCTV footage of this incident would become a viral internet meme and would be the final nail in the coffin of the political career of our fearless STC leader. However, the Civil Servants (who, from my point of view, are the majority Labour Party supporters) are acting not to put their political favourites in harm’s way.
I asked for a CCTV recording of the incident. Below is a screenshot which casts doubt on the impartiality of the STC Town Clerk in this matter. In the words of the Monitoring Officer, the Town Clerk informed him that STC Chamber had no cameras.
This was a blatant lie. However, moments after I replied to the above email casting doubt on this “no camera” claim, the Monitoring Officer changed the narrative, stating that he had “misspoken” because he had received a reply that the cameras at STC Chamber were there, but the Town Clerk had informed him that those cameras…. are not working.
Ah! Ok! Nothing suspicious there! Trained lawyer “misspoken”. Or he just messed up the word “misspoken” with “not working”? Or did the Town Clerk misinform him, and only my next email cleared the issue? We will never know…
CCTV- BAD PEOPLE ARE SCARED OF THEM, DONT LIKE THEM, DONT WANT THEM
If you have ever visited the STC Chamber, you will know there are as many as FOUR CCTV cameras and the system operating them. How much did it cost? Several hundred pounds, at least. Was that money deliberately thrown down the drain, or was it invested intentionally only to be used when Labour and STC had a political need? I’m 100% sure that if I had been the one to hit a Labour Party councillor’s laptop- the video would have been found immediately.
LEFT ALWAYS USES VIOLENCE AS A POLITICAL TOOL
If you have any idea of politics, you know that the left always uses aggression and violence to achieve political goals. They have been doing this since the rise of socialism. They do it in every country where they try to gain or maintain power (so-called National Socialists in Germany, so-called Bolsheviks in Russia, so-called Maoists in China, so-called Red Khmer in Cambodia, so-called Warsaw Pact in Hungary and Prague, so-called “real socialist” in Poland in 1981, so-called Black Lives Matter Marxist in the USA and so on so on…).
Socialists hate free speech, democracy and transparency.
As history teaches us- socialism ultimately always loses along the way, causing mass destruction, suffering and poverty. That is why I still have hope for Shirebrook. I hope that one day the day will come when more people in our town will go to the polls in local elections (because at the moment, only Labour voters go to the polls in Shirebrook), and maybe things can finally be changed for the better.
