Labour Party-led council closing down Leisure Centre! (2012)
I dedicate this article to the internet trolls spreading fake news and misinformation about the alleged intentions of closing the Leisure Centre in Shirebrook. Of course, the title above could have been written in 2012, but not today. I wrote it that way because almost every post made by S247 on Facebook is followed by a group of stupefied trolls spreading fake news- I want to close the Leisure Centre. But, of course, that is not true.
It is a typical distraction from the real issues: the town’s debt, the Chair who close down meeting when vital questions hang in the air and the actual cost of LC. The truth is that the Labour Party in 2012 wanted to close the Leisure Centre- not Conservatives. Do you hear that Labour fanboys? IT WAS LABOUR who tried to close down your precious party place!
The same Labour Party sponsored Clowne their Leisure Centre. To this day, you- the taxpayer in Shirebrook- pay tribute in taxes to maintain the Leisure Centre. No! Wait! Let me rephrase that: you are paying to support TWO Leisure Centres. The one in Shirebrook and the one in Clowne. Awesome, right? Do you see now why we have to pay double the tax compared to the people of Clowne?
LABOUR IS CLOSING THE LEISURE CENTRE!
In 2012 the Labour Party wanted to close the Leisure Centre, so the Labour Party rode in on a white horse to save the day! At taxpayers expense, of course. The entire cost of maintaining LC was passed on to the taxpayer in Shirebrook. According to the information I gleaned from the STC- the LC currently employs 17 people. 17! The annual cost of maintaining Shirebrook LC in the 21/22 fiscal year will be around 330,000. So more than half of all tax collected in Shirebrook went to support LC. One building- half of our taxes. I think that is insane. You can disagree, but you can deny the facts. And the fact is- that is a lot of money. A lot!
HOW MUCH FOR CRIME PREVENTION???
330,000 on parties and leisure. At the same time, the Labour Party spent 0 (zero) on crime prevention. ZERO! Tell me, dear reader, what do you think should be a priority? It seems that flipping even 10% of what we spend on “leisure” would give a substantial budget to develop ways to make residents safer.
Except that it appears that Labour doesn’t want residents to feel safe- that way, Labour can blame the central government for rising crime. Even though the crime rate nationally fell in 2021 by 14% (excluding computer crime). What was the crime rate change in Shirebrook? I’m working on that article now, but there are few other articles in the “pipeline”, so the “crime stats” article has to wait for its turn. I can’t confirm the publication date yet.
FACEBOOK TROLLS=WASTE OF TIME
I don’t have much free time, but I took a moment to explain in the comments under the post that NEVER, ANYWHERE, NOBODY said they had the intention to close the Leisure Center in Shirebrook- apart from the Labour Party in 2012 – but you have to forget about it because this knowledge is inconvenient for… Labour Party.
As well as their position on Brexit– they want you to forget about that either. As well as their position on the Cervix men, as well as their position on the Iraq war, as well as their position on the SIR tax-machinations-war-criminal Tony Blair, as well as Gordon Brown gold sale and deregulation of the banking sector with 105% mortgages, offer for anyone who has a pulse and so on and so on. So yeah- Labour need you to be very forgetful.
What do Conservatives want you to forget? They fired some miners 40 years ago. Oh heavens!
TROLLS ARE COORDINATED!
During the exchange of posts, I concluded that this is a coordinated action by the Labour Party fans. Virtually none of the people contributing to the post had any knowledge of the content of the article they commented on- they didn’t read it. It was as if the “jerking circle” had been ordered in advance by someone up high: “smear him, manipulate and stipulate that Conservatives want to close down Leisure Center- that will scare people. Talk about national issues to distract and change the topic of conversation. Do not talk about the high wages and operating costs of LC, and for God’s sake: DO NOT TALK ABOUT TOWN’S DEBT !!! Do you have your orders, faithful soldier of socialism? Then GO! GO! GO! We can’t have people of Shirebrook thinking about real issues!”
So they came in numbers. And NONE of them wrote a single word about the article’s topic.
I HEART YOU!
It is puzzling that under a post describing that in two meetings about the town’s finances, the word “debt” had not been mentioned once – Labour Party trolls posted NO COMMENT. Not a single one. While under a post comparing the cost of Withwell Parish Council with Shirebrook Leisure Centre operating cost – suddenly there was a group giving each other “likes” and “hearts”. It did look like a coordinated campaign to divert attention from one fact: the cost of the WHOLE Withwell Parish Council (4,000 residents) is 228,000; the cost of ONE building and staff at Shirebrook Leisure Centre is 332,000. Labour Party economics!
SHY CONSERVATIVES
I’m starting to get used to this strange behaviour of Labour fans on the internet. They have a lot of time on their hands, so they are very active on the internet. They comment, “heart” themselves, like each other posts. What’s more – I’m beginning to understand why the Conservatives have so many “shy voters”. It’s simple – the left is so envious, venomous, vicious and aggressive that normal people don’t even feel like talking to these lunatics. That’s why normal people sit in silence, read, analyse. Then, when election day comes – they vote for normality, not the crazies. That’s why Corbyn lost so badly- he was king of crazies. Wait! He is! After all, he still claims that he “wOn tHe aRgUmEnT, RiGhT?”
WORRIED? NOT!
I would worry about the inactivity of those who support my point of view if it were not for one crucial fact. The constant growth of likes on FB fan page and better than super good numbers of unique visitors on the website is the best confirmation that people reads, think for themselves and want to know more. That is a good thing- thank you! Each of your visits gives me more and more hope for the future. Finally, residents of Shirebrook take an interest in their town!
I’m doing what I promised: I deliver transparency for voters in Shirebrook and numbers show me that more and more people are interested in what I have to say. Again- thank you for that. I don’t mind if you are shy, but if you want to change the town for the better- I will need you to do more than that. Think about it…
WIND OF CHANGE IS COMING
Until now, the people of Shirebrook did not have much choice – only Labour Party candidates ran for the town council. This situation must not happen again. If the people of Shirebrook want to live in a clean, safe town that cares about low spending and high quality of services, they need to realise that no one will do it for them.
We need a group of tough, dedicated people who love this town and will stand up to the lazy, old and tired Labour Party “elite”. Labour has had its chance. They have done NOTHING about it for decades. The construction of several CCTV cameras has been going on for…. 6 years! 6 years!
Where the hell is our CCTV system?
